Brain Injury Services of Virginia 2023

about brain injury services

Brain Injury Services of Virginia is a cause near and dear to our heart and WJD Management and MMK Realty are proud to once again support this organization and their efforts to help children and adults with brain injuries build the skills and confidence they need to lead a fulfilling and productive life. They have helped over 600 clients strive to achieve an array of person-centered goals through their clubhouse/day program, case management services, and pediatric program. WJD Management is proud to support this worthy local cause.

“Brain injuries affect more people than most people might think – soccer fields, bike paths, playgrounds, etc. – concussions aren’t small injuries, and both serious and more “routine” brain injuries have potentially life-altering effects. Even what may seem like a simple concussion can have long-lasting impacts on the ability to earn, learn, and live a happy life. The dedicated staff at Brain Injury Services works to repair lives, recover possibility, and restore hope. BIS’ innovative programs and services help survivors of brain injuries, their families, and caregivers as well as the communities they live in.”

Brain Injury Services of Virginia 2022

Our CSR Committment_WJD Management

WJD Management and MMK Realty are proud to support Brain Injury Services of Virginia. David Norod Principal Broker of WJD Management and Michelle Williams of MMK Realty LLC collectively support this important cause. The Brain Injury Association of Virginia is the primary source of information and personal support for thousands of individuals, families, and professionals whose lives have been impacted by brain injury. Our donation went to support. Camp Bruce McCoy. Camp Bruce McCoy, named in memory of a former camper, is a nationally-recognized, 38-year-old residential summer camp and respite program for adult survivors of brain injury (18+) and their family members/caregivers.

While family members and caregivers enjoy some much-deserved days “off,” campers enjoy recreational programming customized to their needs and interests in the company of their peers and professionally trained staff and volunteers.

“Camp Bruce McCoy is the highlight of our year. It provides fun, safety, and total relaxation for the camper and the caregivers of the camper. Every year it gets better and better if that is possible. The staff is full of love and excitement for the campers. They are like our family away from home. I love those guys because when I look at the pictures of my son at camp, I can see that he is happy and enjoying himself, which is very important to me.” Mother of a Camper

McKendall Foundation COVID-19 Support 2020

WJD is proud to support The McKendall Foundation. This brand new foundation is run by our Associate Broker Michelle Williams. Michelle Williams also owns MMK Realty LLC and launched The McKendall Foundation LLC in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic this year! Together we’re helping raise money to support those that suffer from Congenital Heart and Lung Disease who will need critical support should they contract COVID-19 and are not able to get the vital care they need due to the lack of available supplies. Michelle’s daughter was born with congenital heart and lung disease due to no fault of her own, and like many, may or may not get medical attention needed if she contracts the infectious COVID 19 virus due to the lack of equipment and facilities. There is great concern that those suffering from immune complications will not receive adequate care due to the lack of medical supplies and the McKendall Foundation was started to help bridge this gap. The McKendall Foundation LLC, will serve as a source of help for those who need extra support due to contracting the Coronavirus. Funds for medical equipment, nursing care, uncovered medical fees, mental healthcare, and other associated support is critical in supporting those who desperately need our help. We will distribute the support among case managers with the local organizations who directly support Congenital Heart and Lung Disease. Click here to donate to this worthy cause today.

Brain Injury Services’ Annual Reception 2019

Brain injury services

Brain Injury Services is a cause near and dear to our heart and WJD Management is proud to support this organization and their efforts to help children and adults with brain injuries build the skills and confidence they need to lead a fulfilling and productive life. They have helped over 600 clients strive to achieve an array of person-centered goals through their clubhouse/day program, case management services, and pediatric program. No two people are alike. And, since the brain defines each of us, controls how we think, move, act and feel, no two brain injuries are alike. To assume that every Brain Injury Services’ client fits a predetermined pattern of needs, wants and goals is to undermine the success of intervention before it begins, and risk a tremendous waste of resources with little to show for the effort. For this reason, Brain Injury Services designs a plan based on the needs and goals of the individual. Our person-centered service plan helps the individual and his/her family make informed choices, establish goals and design those steps that will optimize the productive capacity of the individual. The process of giving control back to the individual and his/her family and allowing them to determine their needs and priorities increases self-sufficiency and self-esteem, improving the chances of independence and success. WJD Management is proud to support this worthy local cause.

Race to Stop Traffick D.C. Benefitting Operation Underground Railroad

commitment to our community wjd management fairfax va

WJD Management is proud to be a sponsor of the Race to Stop Traffick D.C. WJD is committed to our community and to the project to help stop human trafficking of children. The Race to Stop Traffick D.C. is a 5K and Fun Run in Northern Virginia to benefit Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.). Operation Underground Railroad’s mission is to rescue children from human trafficking and does so by‪ gathering the world’s experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R.’s Underground Jump Team consists of former CIA, Navy SEALs, and Special Ops operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law enforcement throughout the world. Once victims are rescued, a comprehensive process involving justice for the perpetrators and recovery and rehabilitation for the survivors begins. Domestically, O.U.R. shares the mission to save children and seek justice for those who victimize them, therefore O.U.R. is committed to enhancing law enforcement efforts by providing resources where budget shortfalls prohibit a child pornography, child exploitation or human trafficking operation from going forward. WJD Management is proud to support this worthy cause.
